The cabinet is refinished in ebony with nine coats of lacquer, hand rubbed to a lustrous finish. The piano’s action includes new hammers and dampers, with action parts repaired and finely regulated. The reproducing player system has all new pneumatics and bellows recovered with the highest grade of pneumatics cloth of appropriate weight. The sounding board was also repaired and refinished, with the harp regilded, lettered and re-pinned. The restoration process also included restringing the instrument, replacing all leather products, and replacing all neoprene rubber hoses and tubing. All metal parts have been newly plated or polished. Come by our Asheville location to play and hear this amazing instrument.
Restored by our friend Roger Dayton who grew up in the Chicago, Illinois. Roger started Pedals Pumpers & Rolls in Chicago, offering professional player piano repair and restoration services. After 32 years of running Pedals Pumpers & Rolls as a full time business, Roger moved to Greenville, South Carolina with the goal of semi-retirement.
Pedals Pumpers & Rolls has sent restored instruments all over the US, plus Australia, Belgium, Japan, Switzerland, and even a player installed in an ocean traveling yacht. A number rare instruments now reside in museum collections.
